Reading books will be sent home weekly in Years 1, 2 and 3. Two reading books will be given for them to read; one phonic and the other keyword. These will then be returned to school the following week so they can be changed. Your child’s class teacher will let you know the day when this will take place.
Once returned, these books will be placed in quarantine for a minimum of 72 hours (following COVID guidelines) before they are returned to circulation.
Once we have a COVID secure system in place, the frequency of changes will increase. Currently, children in Year 1, 2 and 3 will not be able to take library books home. This will be reviewed at half term.
Please note, reading books will not be sent home the first week of term. We will also not be sending children home with reading records.
If you have any reading books at home from last term, please can you return them to school as soon as possible? These books will also be quarantined before being added back into circulation.
If you have any questions about reading books, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Thank you in advance for your patience while we get systems up and running.
