As part of Remembrance day this year, we all took part in a school service on the playground. We listened to a radio assembly which was beautifully read by two of our year 6 pupils. They talked about the importance of Remembrance and the significance of this year being 100 years since WW1 ended. The whole school then took part in a two-minute silence to remember those who have given their lives for us during and since WW1. After our silence we sang two well-known songs ('Pack Up Your Troubles' and 'It’s A Long Way To Tipperary') from WW1.

In our lessons, we created a variety of different types of Remembrance art work. Each year group used the image of the poppy and interpreted it in their own way. This has then all been put together to create a breath-taking Remembrance display on our library.

Children also took part in a home task where they chose a pebble and painted it with a poppy and a name to help us remember the soldiers of WW1. They are currently on display in our library but will soon become part of our environmental area to be a continue reminder to us about the importance of Remembrance.
